Federal Employees Endorse Congressman Hoyer for Congress in the Fifth Congressional District
FIFTH DISTRICT, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) has been endorsed for Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by several organizations representing federal employees, including the National Treasury Employees Union, the National Federation of Federal Employees, the American Federation of Government Employees, and the National Association of Government Employees.
“From keeping our nation safe to ensuring seniors get their Social Security checks on time, federal employees perform critical work on behalf of our country and I’m pleased to have their endorsement,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “While federal employees have contributed $75 million toward deficit reduction, these middle class workers continue to be singled out while no other group has been targeted to pitch in – including the wealthiest among us. It is unacceptable to continue asking our public servants to contribute without asking others to pay their fair share, and I will continue to advocate on their behalf in the next Congress.”
“Federal employees and retirees do not have a better champion in Congress than Steny Hoyer,” stated Colleen Kelley, National President of the National Treasury Employees Union. “From pay, to health care affordability, to retirement protection, Steny Hoyer has led the fight for fair treatment of federal employees, retirees and their families.”
“Federal employees simply have no stronger advocate in Congress,” stated William Dougan, National President of the National Federation of Federal Employees. “Your leadership in defending federal employees from relentless and unfounded attacks is unsurpassed. We are proud to give you our union’s full backing once again.”
“The American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, is proud to endorse Steny Hoyer for re-election to the House of Representatives from Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District,” stated Beth Moten, Legislative and Political Director of the American Federation of Government Employees.
"We are proud to announce that NAGE/IBPO/SEIU Local 5000 has endorsed your candidacy for re-election to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District of Maryland,” stated David Holway, National President of the National Association of Government Employees. “NAGE/IBPO is proud to stand with you for re-election.”
