Public Safety Organizations Endorse Hoyer for Reelection

BOWIE, MD -- Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) has been endorsed for his reelection to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by the Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland and the Prince George's County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics Association; the Fraternal Order of Police, Prince George's County, Lodge 89; Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 112; Prince George's Police Civilian Employee Association; Prince George's Correction Officers Association; and the Maryland Fraternal Order of Police.

"In Congress, I've been proud to support our public safety officials and emergency services personnel," said Congressman Hoyer. "Our firefighters and police officers put their lives on the line each day to protect our communities. As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I have worked hard to ensure our firefighters have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. I am a strong supporter of the COPS Hiring Program, which allows our police departments to hire and train officers. I will continue to advocate for our public safety officials, and I am pleased to receive the support of these fire service and law enforcement organizations."

"Steny Hoyer has been a staunch ally for Maryland’s Fire Fighters since 1981," said Michael Rund, President, Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland & Andrew Pantelis, President, Prince George's County Professional Association of Fire Fighters and Paramedics. "He’s had a hand in almost every major piece of Fire Fighter legislation passed in his tenure, and in the last Congress, Hoyer was there for us again. Steny helped pave the way for continuing the FIRE (AFG) & Safer Grants that provide critical support for local fire departments. When drastic cuts to state and local revenue streams were proposed, Steny fought to protect state and local tax deductions which fund public safety. He also worked to establish the National Fire Fighter Cancer Registry, which will assist researchers working to reduce the risk of cancer in the fire service. Fire Fighters know we can count on Steny to get the job done."
"The men and women of the Fraternal Order of Police, Prince George's County, Lodge 89 would like to officially notify you that you have received the endorsement of the coalition," said Angelo Consoli, 1st Vice President, FOP Lodge 89. "We hope this show of support will be instrumental in aiding you during your campaign for elected office."

"Your support for law enforcement and labor organizations throughout the state of Maryland has been an asset to, not only our members, but to all residents in Maryland and the United States," said Vince Canales & Matthew Frasca, Maryland Fraternal Order of Police. "The men and women members of the Fraternal Order of Police thank you for your commitment to worker's rights and working police officers."
