PIKESVILLE MD – Last night Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) delivered remarks at a reception during the Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO 29th Biennial Convention. Hoyer (MD-5) hosted the 11thAnnual Women's Equality Day Luncheon today joining women from around the Fifth District to celebrate Women’s Equality Day which was last week. At the event Congressman Hoyer introduced the keynote speaker Rebecca Pearce Executive Director of the Maryland Health Connection.
GREENBELT MD – On Friday evening Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the Maryland and District of Columbia AFL-CIO’s Annual “Salute to Leadership” Awards Dinner. At the event John J. Sweeney President Emeritus of AFL-CIO was recognized as the 2013 Salute Honoree and Dwight R. Bowman former National Vice President of the American Federal of Government Employees District 14 was honored with the 2013 Carr/Fouche Legacy Award posthumously.
WALDORF MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the 2013 Truman-Kennedy Dinner hosted by the Charles County Democratic Central Committee this evening and delivered remarks. At the event Nancy Schertler was honored with the Truman Award Walt Powell was honored with the Kennedy Award and Marie Lancaster was honored with the John Thomas Parran Award. “I was honored to join the Charles County Democratic Central Committee this evening and join in recognizing Nancy Walt and Marie for all that they do in our community ” stated Congressman Hoyer.
HAGERSTOWN MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the 9th annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit today. At the event he delivered the Afternoon Keynote Address and participated in a panel discussion led by former Maryland Secretary of State John Willis on the 2012 election. “I was honored by the opportunity to come to Hagerstown and spend time with the outstanding Western Maryland Democrats who helped send John Delaney to Congress and turn Western Maryland from red to blue ” stated Congressman Hoyer.
