Hoyer Hosts Roundtable Discussion on College Affordability

WALDORF MD – Today Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) joined U.S. Department of Education’s Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo Ochoa State Delegate and Chairman of the Maryland House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and Economic Development John Bohanan and students from ten higher education institutions in the Fifth District for a roundtable discussion on college affordability. Following remarks by Hoyer Ochoa and Bohanan students had the opportunity to ask questions and share their perspectives on a variety of issues.

Nonpartisan Environmental Group Awards Hoyer High Marks

WASHINGTON DC – Today the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) a national nonpartisan organization released their 2011 National Environmental Scorecard which includes Member scores for environmental public health and energy votes taken during the First Session of the 112th Congress. Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) received a 97% rating a testament to his efforts to protect the environment and promote good environmental and energy policies. “I am pleased to have received a nearly perfect rating from the LCV on their annual scorecard ” stated Congressman Hoyer.

Hoyer Visits Calvert Career and Technology Academy

PRINCE FREDERICK MD – Today Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) toured the campus and participated in a roundtable discussion with students and educators at the Calvert Career and Technology Academy a vocational/technical high school in the Calvert County Public School District. Following a tour of the campus which highlighted the programs available to students Hoyer participated in a roundtable discussion to learn more about the high school’s programs and how it prepares students to become college and career-ready in a variety of fields.

Hoyer Hosts Alliances from Joint Base Andrews Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center and Patuxent River Naval Air Station

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer Statement on Signing of Congressional Redistricting Map

FIFTH DISTRICT MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after Governor Martin O’Malley signed into law the congressional redistricting map for Maryland: “This afternoon Governor O’Malley signed Maryland’s Congressional redistricting map after it was approved by the General Assembly. I am pleased that the new Congressional map does not make drastic changes to the Fifth District which I have been proud to represent.
