It seems dysfunction in Congress has reached an all-time high, and it’s hard to believe that some members of Congress are doing nothing to end the irrational process of sequestration. However, I’m encouraged that our congressman, Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md., 5th) continues to fight for an alternative.
For months, Hoyer has called on Congress to stop the sequester so we can avoid its harmful impact, including the furloughs that many people in Calvert County are now experiencing. He isn’t giving up, and continues to urge his colleagues to work together toward a bipartisan agreement. I thank him for his tireless advocacy. It’s time for his colleagues to also embrace compromise and work together to end this senseless and irresponsible policy.
