Write a Letter

Thank You

Thank you for your interest in writing a letter to the editor. Letters are an important way for you to show your support for Congressman Hoyer and his work on behalf of the Fifth District. A member of Congressman Hoyer’s staff will be in touch with you regarding your letter.

Letter Writing Tips

Please keep letters to 150-200 words. Stay positive. Do not give publicity to opponents by using their names. If you are responding to a specific item in the newspaper, please include the reference (Re: “Title of Article Here,” Date).

To Submit Your Letter

When you submit the letter to your local newspaper, please clearly label your piece as "Letter to the Editor" and include your name, address, and phone number so the newspaper can contact you. The newspaper will publish only your name and city.
