Environmental Organizations Endorse Hoyer for Reelection

BOWIE, MD -- Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) has been endorsed for his reelection to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by numerous environmental organizations, including the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund and the Sierra Club.

"Protecting our state's many natural resources is one of my biggest priorities in Congress," said Congressman Hoyer. "I'm pleased to receive the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and the Sierra Club, two important organizations that work hard to ensure our environment is preserved for future generations. In Congress, I've been pleased to support action to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. While the Trump Administration has rolled back important environmental standards, I've worked with these organizations to oppose these efforts. I will continue to work with the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and the Sierra Club to keep our water safe to drink and our air clean."

"Representative Steny Hoyer’s leadership in the U.S. House has been critical in the effort to defend our most essential environmental protections,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, LCV Action Fund. “He has also been a powerful advocate for protecting the Chesapeake Bay and we are proud to endorse him for re-election because we know that he will continue to fight for our air, water, and public lands when they are threatened by the Trump administration and their polluter allies.”

"We are pleased to inform you that the Sierra Club has endorsed your candidacy for the 2018 election cycle," said Michael Brune, Executive Director, Sierra Club. "The Sierra Club's National Political Team and Maryland Chapter are pleased to support your campaign in appreciation of your demonstrated commitment to protecting America's environment."
