Hoyer Attends the 21st Annual Calvert County Democratic Central Committee's Louis L. Goldstein Dinner

CHESAPEAKE BAY, MD -- This evening, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) attended the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee's 21st annual Louis L. Goldstein Dinner. Attorney General Brian Frosh was named the recipient of the 2019 Louis L. Goldstein Award, and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller was presented with the Legislative Award.

"Tonight, I was proud to join Calvert County Democrats in honoring Attorney General Frosh, an outstanding public servant and representative for the people of Maryland. Attorney General Frosh has been on the front lines of justice and has fought against the misdeeds of the Trump Administration to protect access to health care, reject a unnecessary national emergency to fund the President's border wall, and safeguard women's right to make their own health care decisions. I am proud to call Attorney General Frosh a good friend, and I was pleased to join in honoring his many important contributions to our state.

"I was also pleased to honor my dear friend, Senate President Mike Miller. For more than thirty years, Mike Miller has led the Maryland State Senate with a deft hand and made sure the Senate has been an instrument of our Democratic principles. From cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay to investing in education and opportunities, he has been at the center of our efforts to build a better future for Maryland. His leadership and vision have made our state a model for the nation. I congratulate my good friend on being honored tonight, and I thank him for his friendship, camaraderie, and leadership.

"Together, Democrats are fighting to help families in Maryland get ahead. I will continue to work with my colleagues on the local, state, and federal level to ensure all Marylanders have access to opportunity."
