Hoyer Attends Maryland Democratic Party Unity Rally

HYATTSVILLE, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after attending the Maryland Democratic Party Unity Rally in Hyattsville last night:

“I was proud to join Maryland Democrats to energize and unify our party members for the general election in November. I congratulate our Democratic nominees for the Maryland Senate and House races – Chris Van Hollen, Anthony Brown and Jamie Raskin. I am also proud to be on the ballot in November to represent the Fifth District for another term in Congress. We’ve accomplished a great deal together, but there is still much more work to be done if we’re going to make our country reflect the values and opportunities that have always made it great. There is so much at stake this year.

In November, our country will have an important choice to make between two very different visions of the future. Republicans are offering the same vision they’ve presented for decades: an America where gridlock puts the brakes on investments in growth, where failed trickle-down policies benefit the wealthiest at the expense of working families, and where government would impose health care decisions on women. It’s a vision for decline. Democrats are running to offer an alternative: an America where everyone who works hard and takes responsibility not only can get by but get ahead.  Every vote will count and Maryland Democrats will be united in our determination to elect strong Democrats down the ballot.”
