Hoyer Attends Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO "Salute to Leadership" Dinner
GREENBELT, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after delivering brief remarks last night at the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO's Annual "Salute to Leadership" Awards Dinner:
“The men and women of labor built this country and laid the foundation for our economic success in the 20th century. And organizations like AFL-CIO fought to ensure that the work of building a strong America translated into opportunities for workers and their families to afford homeownership, have access to quality health insurance, and be able to have a secure retirement. Today, labor is once again leading the fight to ensure that the American Dream remains within reach of every worker, and Democrats are proud to join them in this effort. I join in congratulating tonight’s honorees and in celebrating the labor victories that have been achieved here in our state and across this country. We will defend those victories and continue to reach for the next ones.”
