Hoyer Delivers Remarks at Prince George's County Young Democrats Kennedy-King Dinner

LANHAM, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) delivered remarks at the Prince George's Young Democrats Kennedy-King Dinner last night. The 9th annual dinner honored the legacies of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., President John F. Kennedy and U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who exemplified civic engagement, advocacy and service to the community.

“I’ve always been incredibly proud to be an alumnus of the Prince George’s Young Democrats and a former president of the statewide young Democrats,” said Congressman Steny Hoyer. “Over the next year and a half, Democrats across Maryland will be focusing on energizing our supporters and sharing our message of equal justice and equal opportunity for all. As the ambassadors to the newest voters, young Democrats will have an ability to foster youth engagement and voter registration in a compelling way.

“That is going to be critical, especially in Prince George’s County, with our large student population and growing communities with many young professionals and young families,” continued Congressman Hoyer. “Justice, civil rights, and economic opportunity are at the core of our mission as Democrats, and I’ve been proud to make it my mission in Congress. I’m ready to get to work for victory in 2016, and I know that our young Democrats are too. I hope they will get out there and campaign hard, like the future of our county, our state, and our country depends on it, because it does.”

The Prince George’s County Young Democrats honored several outstanding Prince Georgians for their service on behalf of their fellow citizens and the Democratic Party.
