Hoyer Endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign

BOWIE, MD -- Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) was endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.

"I am honored to receive the Human Rights Campaign's endorsement," said Congressman Hoyer. "As we approach Pride Month, it's critically important that we continue working to achieve justice and equality for all Marylanders. I've been proud to work with the Human Rights Campaign for many years to end discrimination against LGBTQ Americans, and I look forward to our continued partnership as we keep fighting against the Trump Administration's hateful anti-LGBTQ policies."

“Leader Hoyer is a true ally that our movement would be worse off without,” said Alphonso David, President, Human Rights Campaign. “His leadership and stewardship of pro-equality legislation like the Equality Act and repeal of 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' have made a true difference in the lives of LGBTQ people across America. We must work to ensure we not only maintain the pro-equality majority in the House but elect pro-equality partners in the Senate and White House to bring the change LGBTQ people need across this country. The Human Rights Campaign is proud to endorse true champions of our community like Leader Hoyer.”’

The primary election for Maryland's Fifth Congressional District will take place on Tuesday, June 2, and ballots will be cast primarily by mail. Every ballot must be completed and returned with a postmark no later than 8:00pm on June 2 to be counted. No postage is necessary to return a completed ballot by mail.
