Hoyer Endorsed by National Wildlife Federation Action Fund

BOWIE, MD -- Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) received the endorsement of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Action Fund. One of the nation's premier environmental protection advocacy groups, NWF Action Fund supports candidates committed to its mission of conservation, protection of endangered species and ecosystems, and environmental education. Its endorsement of Congressman Hoyer comes at a time when the Trump Administration has been working to undo critical environmental and wildlife protections, while legislators like Congressman Hoyer have been leading efforts to defend the health of our planet and the safety of endangered habitats and species.

"I'm very proud to receive this endorsement," said Congressman Hoyer.  "I've worked closely with NWF Action Fund and its members for many years to fight for a cleaner Chesapeake Bay watershed and for policies that help maintain the careful balance of its ecosystem, which is critical not only for our local economy but also for Marylanders' enjoyment and appreciation for this unique natural environment. Together, we will continue working to protect our communities and natural habitats for current and future generations and to meet the challenge of the global climate crisis."

“Majority Leader Hoyer is an unwavering ally of America’s wildlife and a champion for clean water,” said Collin O’Mara, President and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund.  "His tireless leadership has resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars of funding to clean up the Bay and its tributaries — the Patuxent, St. Mary’s, Potomac, and Anacostia — and to restore populations of oyster, blue crabs and rockfish. He’s helped expand the Patuxent National Wildlife Refuge, Piscataway Park, and Douglas Point. This Congress, he helped to lead the charge for the Climate Action Now Act, protect the Atlantic Ocean from drilling, defend the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, and prevent the Trump Administration from eliminating funding for the Chesapeake Bay program. From restoring at-risk wildlife populations to acting on climate change, the Majority Leader has shown he more than deserves to be re-elected. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to endorse conservation champion Majority Leader Hoyer for re-election.”
