Hoyer Statement on the Election of Kathleen Matthews to Serve as Interim Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after the Maryland Democratic Party Executive Committee elected Kathleen Matthews last night to serve as interim chair.
"I join in congratulating my friend Kathleen Matthews on her election to serve as interim chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. Kathleen's diverse experience both in the public and private sector, as well as her experience working in communities across Maryland, will make her an effective voice to push back against the extreme agenda of the Trump Administration.
"I want to thank departing Chairman Bruce Poole for his service to our party, and to our state. Throughout his tenure, Bruce has worked tirelessly to support Democrats across our state, and I wish him the best of luck going forward."
