Hoyer Statement on Historic Election of Wes Moore as Governor of Maryland
BALTIMORE, MD - Tonight, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement on the historic election of Wes Moore, who will become the first African American Governor of the state of Maryland:
“I want to congratulate Wes Moore on winning his election to become Maryland’s next governor. I was proud to endorse Governor-Elect Moore in the Democratic primary earlier this year, having been impressed by his experience, talent, vision, and ability to inspire Marylanders of all ages and backgrounds. Clearly, voters across Maryland saw those same qualities, and that’s why they have selected him to guide our state toward a brighter future as a historic governor. As Democrats take control of state government, I look forward to working with Governor-Elect Moore and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller to address the most pressing issues facing Marylanders and to ensure that federal, state, and local leaders are working in lockstep to deliver for our state.”
