WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act:
"The passage of the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act will provide needed help to small businesses in the Fifth District that are struggling to survive during this pandemic, and to their employees who are having trouble making ends meet. This bill also provides additional funding to expand testing and to help hospitals and health care providers fight the coronavirus. This legislation is an important step, but more must be done to help Marylanders and local governments that are struggling financially. I am very disappointed this legislation did not include a fix to provide the District of Columbia with critically needed funds to fight the coronavirus in our region.
