BOWIE, MD -- Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) has been endorsed for his reelection to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by the Editorial Boards of TheBayNet.com and Capital Gazette.

 

"Steny Hoyer has a chance to be the House Majority leader in the future," wrote TheBayNet.come Editorial Board. "He is a St. Mary’s County resident and an inspirational individual who has lost in St. Mary’s several times in the past but deserves his county’s vote.  He provides a moral compass to the far left and is a centrist in every sense of the word. He brings home the bacon for Patuxent River. Just ask your neighbor or relative who works there. We endorse Steny Hoyer."

 

"U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer had some of the strongest words in our conversations about ways to end mass violence," wrote the Capital Gazette Editorial Board. "He said the common practice of moments of silence in Congress after a shooting should be replaced with action. That action should include comprehensive background checks and red flag laws like the one just enacted in Maryland, he said. We did not hear from Republican William A. Devine III, his opponent in the 5th District. If the Democrats take the House, Hoyer could be in a leadership post to advance these ideas. We endorse Hoyer for another term."
