Ours was we must remember with sorrow a slave state – and one of the first places where African slavery took hold on this continent.
PRINCE FREDERICK MD – Today Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) toured the campus and participated in a roundtable discussion with students and educators at the Calvert Career and Technology Academy a vocational/technical high school in the Calvert County Public School District. Following a tour of the campus which highlighted the programs available to students Hoyer participated in a roundtable discussion to learn more about the high school’s programs and how it prepares students to become college and career-ready in a variety of fields.
WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) hosted community leaders and representatives of the three local community groups established to advocate on behalf of Joint Base Andrews Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center and Patuxent River Naval Air Station for a day in Washington to meet with officials from the United States Navy and the Department of Defense. ANNAPOLIS MD – This afternoon Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) accepted the Nancy S. Grasmick Leadership in Early Care and Education Award from the Maryland Family Network. The Grasmick award is given to a Marylander who through his or her outstanding record of accomplishments exemplifies the commitment to young children their families their teachers and care providers that former Maryland State School Superintendent Dr. Nancy Grasmick embodied throughout her career.
LARGO MD – This afternoon Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with members of the Prince George’s County Workforce Investment Board to hear about their workforce development programs and how they are working to help Prince George’s residents get back to work. “I was pleased to meet today with the Prince George’s County Workforce Investment Board to learn about how this local program is benefitting residents entering and returning to the workforce and employers seeking qualified candidates for employment ” stated Congressman Hoyer.
FIFTH DISTRICT MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after Governor Martin O’Malley signed into law the congressional redistricting map for Maryland: “This afternoon Governor O’Malley signed Maryland’s Congressional redistricting map after it was approved by the General Assembly. I am pleased that the new Congressional map does not make drastic changes to the Fifth District which I have been proud to represent.
