U.S. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md. 5th) received the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee’s Louis L. Goldstein Award for echoing the qualities of Goldstein a former Maryland comptroller and state senator representing Calvert County who died in 1998.

In one incident guardsmen watched insurgents load improvised explosive devices into two vehicles. “What our guys did was call in an airstrike and they dropped 500-pound bombs on the cars ” said spokesman Lt. Col. Charles Kohler.

A celebration is scheduled for Oct. 23 at Newton White Mansion in Prince George’s County. During the nearly two-hour visit the congressman read a book to a group of youngsters and spoke with their parents parents during the medical clinic’s first Reach Out and Read story time in the pediatric waiting area.

New Veterans Clinic Coming to Charlotte Hall

The outpatient clinics serve veterans who live in more rural areas. There is a clinic operating now at the campus of the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. A new clinic will be operational in 2013 said U.S. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md. 5th).
